Bcms : Medias Management

Hello guys, another great step has been completed for the Bcms : the management of all types of medias. We can execute plenty of actions on images, videos and various files.

Let’s begin with the explorer in each library.

Explorer

You can organize your explorer. Add, rename or delete folder(s) ans subfolders is highly recommended for a clean library. On these elements, searching, deleting and downloading are available to manage easily your folders ‘s content.

Image Format

Images are often the “nightmare” for a client : Which size for which image? Do we have a psd template? The solution could be to avoid users to take care of sizes and to perform image resizing dynamically. (I mean we can restore the original image if we want to resize it in an other way). So, I can follow this post with the image profils. Each image is linked with a format. These properties include differents sizes. For example, the news format could have two size : one thumbnail and one bigger size for the news detail page.

Image Edition

With this feature, when we are in the edition mode, we can customize our image in our needs (scaling, flipping, color modifications….). One click to switch format or size. We don’t create the thumnails physically (I mean we have only one image on the server : your image). Each image is described via a code (depending on your edition) and  the final image is created on the server side.

What’s about the other library?

The rest of your library works like the images listing. We can’t edit videos or pdf, word document,etc.. (too much work and not very useful I think). You can upload various type of files, allow or forbid specific extensions via a setting in the cms.

The next post on Bcms will be the components features at any time, (we can include external components Just drop the swf component at the right place and it will be display on the cms) and the user management.

(ps sorry for the screenshots, it’s the french version this time)
